Terms of Use
Backstage · Last updated: June 24, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of Backstage (the "Service"), operated by Emmanuel Grenier in Quebec, Canada. Backstage is provided through the Backstage mobile application, available on the Apple App Store (Google Play is coming soon). Our website backstage.ltd is used for marketing, information, support, and legal pages — it is not the product dashboard and does not provide sign-in or video analysis. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Use of Backstage
Backstage lets you upload short clips from your phone and receive AI audience reactions, a score, transcript-based feedback, and practical tips, to help you practice before posting publicly. To use the Service, download the Backstage app from the App Store. Account registration, sign-in, uploads, analysis, and results happen inside the mobile app. The Service is provided for your personal, non-commercial practice use, for educational and creative improvement purposes only.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You agree to provide accurate information, including an accurate date of birth. Notify us of any unauthorized use at hello@backstage.ltd.
3. Eligibility and minors
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority (18 in Quebec), you may use the Service only with the consent and involvement of a parent or guardian where required by law. We apply additional protections to accounts identified as minors.
4. Your content and ownership
You keep ownership of the clips you upload. You are responsible for the content you submit and confirm that you have the right to submit it.
5. License to process your content
You grant Backstage a limited, non-exclusive license to store, transcribe, analyze, and display your content back to you, and to use third-party providers to do so, solely to provide the Service to you.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service lawfully and respectfully, and not to misuse, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' data.
7. Prohibited content and behavior
You may not upload or share content that is illegal, that you do not have the right to use, or that contains:
- sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualizes minors;
- hate, harassment, or incitement to violence;
- graphic violence or content promoting self-harm;
- sexual or pornographic material;
- misinformation intended to deceive or harm;
- another person's private or personal information without consent.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
8. No guarantee of performance
Backstage provides practice feedback only. We do not guarantee any particular result, and specifically we do not guarantee increased views, followers, engagement, virality, reach, sales, revenue, or social media growth from using the Service.
9. Beta and early access
The Service is offered as an early-access beta. It may contain bugs, change, or become temporarily unavailable, and features may be added or removed. We provide the Service "as is".
10. Subscriptions and payments (future)
If we introduce paid features, the applicable prices, billing terms, and cancellation terms will be presented to you before purchase. Payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor.
11. App store terms
If you obtain Backstage through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to the applicable store terms, in addition to these Terms.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see our Account and Data Deletion page). We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or if needed to protect the Service or other users.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Backstage and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
14. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you of significant changes. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
